Is there anything in the world better than fly-fishing? According to Chris, the answer to that question is a resounding “no”! An adventurer at heart, he first decided to explore the much talked-about fly-fishing opportunities in the pristine rivers of New Zealand in 2000 — and never looked back.

On that inaugural trip, the last two days brought him to the little town of Kurow in the Waitaki Valley, and a passionate fire ignited that has since burned with abundance.

Numerous subsequent trips to New Zealand followed, and after many stays at a local guest house in Kurow, Chris and Iris decided in 2008 to build their own home in the new wine-growing-area of Waitaki-Estates at Grants Road.

In April 2010, the couple celebrated the finished construction alongside the many local people who participated in the construction of their new home away from home.“Since the completion of our house, we have extended our stay in New Zealand every year, lasting 3 - 4 months each time we visit,” said Iris. “Last year, Chris retired from his management job at an Italian oil company. This gives us more time in the future to enjoy the much more relaxing life in New Zealand.”

And so a dream came true for Iris and Chris — to open a Bed & Breakfast in the most beautiful part of the world.
