Activities

Two Rocks is the ideal starting point for numerous outdoor activities in the unspoiled nature of the Waitaki Valley: Hiking, biking, horseback riding, golfing and fishing. Most of these activities you can start right at the doorstep of Two Rocks.

Fishing

Waitaki River, one oft the most beautiful rivers, invites you for fly- and spinfishing. Also many small creeks like the Hakataramea River or the Marawhenua River offer a real adventure-fly-fishing. There is always a good chance to hook a nice Rainbow or Brown Trout. With pleasure Chris will show you the best spots or can arrange a fishing-tour with a local guide for you.

Biking

The Alps2Ocean Rail Trail leads through the Waitaki Valley only 3.6 km away from Two Rocks. Those guests doing the Alps2Ocean we can pick up in Kurow or at the junction of state highway 83 and Grants Road. You can start you biking tour also right at Two Rocks and discover our quiet back roads. Our two bikes are at your leisure. A wonderful lunchplace is Kurow Winery only 6 km from Two Rocks.

Horseback Riding

Peter Reed — our next door neighbour — offers guided horseback riding trips. We can arrange the trip for you and bring you to the stable.

Goldpanning

For the patient adventurer we provide goldpanning gear. You can try your luck in the Marawhenua or the Otematata River, high up in the mountains.

Walking & Hiking

There are lots of walking and hiking tours around. From Two Rocks you can walk through the vineyards of Waitaki Valley Estates or along the little creek in front of the house.
